In the winter of 2020/2021, the radiator thermostats in the town hall of the municipality of Binzen in Baden-Württemberg were replaced.
According to Mayor Andreas Schneucker, the total of 44 radiators on the entire town hall premises can now be controlled centrally and digitally. The town hall is heated with gas. Previously, the municipality used around 227,000 kilowatt hours of gas per year for heating, which, according to Schneucker, caused costs of 11,500 euros as well as 46 tons of CO2.

Savings
Result
Thanks to our intelligent individual room control, 20.8% of the energy consumption could be saved. Taking into account the CO2 tax, which is to increase gradually, we expect annual savings of approx. 2,700 euros, so that the sustainable investment will pay for itself within approx. 3 years for the municipality. In addition, it is estimated that approximately 9.6 tons of CO2 will be saved annually. Furthermore, the vilisto online platform enables easy management of the radiators remotely and provides interesting insights for municipal energy management.
