Municipality Buttstädt

Project
The state government of Thuringia has formulated the ambitious goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2040. As a small municipality in the Thuringian district of Sömmerda, Buttstädt is leading the way as a major pioneer. In cooperation with vilisto, a company specializing in intelligent heating solutions, the municipality was able to reduce its own heat consumption and thus the CO2 emissions emitted by 28.6% in the last heating period. In this way, Buttstädt is making an important contribution to the state-wide objective and demonstrating that climate protection also pays off financially.
The project received 60% financial support from the Thüringer Aufbaubank through the state-wide “Klimainvest” grant. The grant is a further incentive for Thuringian municipalities to introduce sustainable technologies in order to achieve their environmental goals. Thanks to the integration of vilisto technology in the administrative office of the Buttstädt municipality, office manager Christopher Nagel is relatively relaxed about the upcoming heating bill. The savings have also significantly reduced heating costs. The municipality is therefore now planning to equip the remaining buildings with self-learning thermostats from vilisto.
