Project

Menden (Sauerland) is located south-east of Dortmund and is home to around 52,000 residents. With the understanding that ‘a climate-friendly future means a future worth living’, a climate protection concept which aims to reduce climate-damaging greenhouse gases has been in place there since 2013. As an important measure, the city of Menden is relying on vilisto’s digital heat management system. This reduces energy consumption in buildings through needs-based heating, which also leads to an improved CO2 footprint.

The vilisto technology is used in Menden town hall, among other places. There, 313 intelligent thermostats only heat automatically when a room is in use. If presence sensors detect that a room is unused – at the weekend or after work, for example – the thermostats automatically reduce the temperature. This saves Menden 19.5 percent of its usual energy consumption. As a result, 30.8 tons less CO2-emissions are released and 22,569 euros in heating costs and CO2 tax are saved.

The intelligent thermostats have quickly and significantly reduced the CO2 footprint of our town hall. We are very satisfied with both the technology and the comprehensive service provided by vilisto.
