City of Neckarsulm

Project
The Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Neckarsulm uses smart heating. The large district town in the Heilbronn district is aiming for net-zero CO2 emissions by 2035. This is a much more ambitious climate target than the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg (climate neutrality by 2040), Germany (climate neutrality by 2045) and the EU (climate neutrality by 2050). According to an immediate action program for climate protection and energy transition, a renovation campaign for state-owned buildings is one of the measures required to achieve the target. Neckarsulm is relying on vilisto for this. With the help of vilisto’s digital heat management system, the town of Neckarsulm is improving its energy efficiency and reducing emissions and heating costs.
The energy consumption at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium is reduced by 19.9 percent thanks to the use of the AI-supported vilisto technology. Almost 300 intelligent thermostats, which automatically regulate room heating, save around 179,000 kilowatt hours of energy which is generated from climate-friendly biomass (wood). This results in 50.1 tons less CO2 emissions and 22,629 euros less heating costs per year. The energy-saving project was partly financed by the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (official name: BEG). The investment has already paid for itself after just over three years.
