Project

Algermissen, located in the Hildesheim district, has developed a sustainability strategy as part of the project “Municipal Sustainability in Small and Medium-Sized Municipalities in Lower Saxony” (KommN Niedersachsen for short). In recognition of this commitment, the municipality received the “Sustainable Municipality” award from the Municipal Environmental Action Network (UAN) in 2023. With clear goals in mind, the search began for appropriate measures to improve in the areas of education, digital infrastructure, the environment, mobility, and climate and energy. This is how those in charge became aware of vilisto’s energy efficiency solution.

vilisto’s digital heat management system uses smart thermostats to automatically lower the temperature in unused rooms
, thereby preventing energy waste. The Lühnde Elementary School in Algermissen uses 102 of these vilisto thermostats. The results are impressive: Thanks to this technology, the municipality saves 23 percent in heating energy annually. That amounts to approximately 142,500 kilowatt-hours of natural gas, over 16,000 euros in heating costs, and just under 29 metric tons of CO2 emissions. The project was financed in part by the Federal Funding Program for Efficient Buildings (BEG). The technology pays for itself in just 1.5 years through the savings it generates.

*Forecast values based on weather-adjusted heat metering in accordance with VDI 3807 & 4710 under constant framework conditions.

We are very satisfied with our collaboration and the cost savings achieved, and we plan to switch to vilisto's smart thermostats in additional buildings.
