Municipality of Algermissen

Project
Algermissen in the district of Hildesheim has developed a sustainability strategy as part of the project Municipal Sustainability in Small and Medium-Sized Municipalities in Lower Saxony (KommN Niedersachsen). For this commitment, the municipality received the “Sustainable Municipality” award from the Kommunale Umwelt-AktioN (UAN) in 2023. With clear goals in mind, the search for suitable measures to improve in the areas of education, digital infrastructure, environment, mobility, climate and energy began. This is how those responsible became aware of vilisto’s energy efficiency solution.
vilisto’s digital heat management system uses intelligent thermostats to automatically lower the room temperature in unused rooms, thereby preventing energy wastage. The Lühnde elementary school in Algermissen uses 102 of these vilisto thermostats. With success: the technology saves the municipality 23 percent heating energy every year. That is around 142,500 kilowatt hours of natural gas, over 16,000 euros in heating costs and almost 29 tons of CO2 emissions. The project was partly financed with the federal funding for efficient buildings (official name: BEG). Thanks to the savings, the technology pays for itself after just 1.5 years.
