C. Steinweg (Süd-West Terminal) GmbH & Co. KG is part of the international C. Steinweg Group and specializes in stevedoring and warehousing services for conventional general cargo at the Port of Hamburg. The company, which has been in business for 175 years, is committed to sustainable practices in order to meet current and future challenges. This includes, among other things, reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve a low-carbon economy. To this end, vilisto’s technology is being used in its Hamburg office buildings.

Two buildings were equipped with a total of 187 smart vilisto thermostats, which automatically control room temperature based on demand. The results are impressive: In the social services building, 119 thermostats are saving 25.3 percent in energy compared to previous years. That amounts to over 100,000 kilowatt-hours less natural gas and, consequently, 20.3 metric tons fewer_{CO2 emissions}. The annual cost savings of 15,656 euros result in a payback period of just 1.6 years. Another 89 vilisto thermostats are installed in the C. Steinweg operations building, where they reduce energy consumption by 23.4 percent, or 35,894 kilowatt-hours. As a result, the_{CO2 footprint} for this building is reduced by 9.5 metric tons per year. The investment pays for itself within 4.1 years through the savings achieved.
