City of Itzehoe

Project
As a member of the Climate Alliance, the city of Itzehoe is continuously working to improve its climate balance. Reducing energy consumption and the associated greenhouse gas emissions is an important part of this. Itzehoe therefore relies on the digital heat management from vilisto and has had around 600 intelligent thermostats installed in three of the city’s public schools, where they automatically save energy and heating costs and improve the buildings‘carbon footprint. The city of Itzehoe received federal funding for efficient buildings (official name: BEG) for the climate protection measure.
After the first heating period with the vilisto thermostats, a comparison was made. The result is convincing across the board: vilisto saves energy in all three equipped educational facilities: 24.3 percent in Wellenkamp elementary school, 25.9 percent in Edendorf elementary school and 15.1 percent in Kaiser-Karl school. In total, the city has reduced its annual energy costs by over 40,000 euros and its CO2 emissions by 83.4 tons. Thanks to the savings, the investment will pay for itself within a few years.
