As a member of the Climate Alliance, the city of Itzehoe is constantly working to improve its carbon footprint. A key component of this effort is reducing energy consumption and the associated greenhouse gas emissions. That is why Itzehoe has adopted vilisto’s digital heating management system and had approximately 600 smart thermostats installed in three of the city’s public schools, where they automatically save energy and heating costs and reduce the buildings’carbon footprint. For this climate protection measure, the city of Itzehoe received federal funding under the Federal Program for Efficient Buildings (BEG).
After a heating season using the vilisto thermostats, a comparison was made. The results are impressive across the board: Energy savings were achieved at all three educational institutions equipped with vilisto: 24.3 percent at Wellenkamp Elementary School, 25.9 percent at Edendorf Elementary School, and 15.1 percent at Kaiser-Karl School. Overall, this reduces the city’s annual energy costs by over 40,000 euros and itsCO2 emissions by 83.4 metric tons. Thanks to these savings, the investment will pay for itself within a few years.

For us, installing vilisto's digital thermostats is a measure that can be implemented quickly to save CO2 and energy in the long term. It is cost-effective, and every metric ton of CO2 saved is a success.
