In schools especially, rooms are used at regular times; they are usually empty at weekends and during holidays – but the heating stays on. This is not only a burden on the climate, but also on the budget in view of the current increase in gas prices. The city of Kassel is countering this with intelligent individual room control from vilisto – as an addition to the building management system, the temperature is now lowered for each individual room even before the night setback begins. Thanks to integrated presence detection, the self-learning thermostats only heat as needed and can be installed quickly without any structural measures.

During the Corona pandemic, many schools recorded a strong increase in consumption due to frequent ventilation – however, thanks to vilisto, 19.1% of energy was saved at Bossental school.

As a major pioneer, the city of Kassel has already decided in 2019 to become climate neutral by 2030. With 12 tons of annual CO2 savings, vilisto supports this exemplary goal. Also due to the climate protection contribution of the intelligent individual room control, the state of Hesse subsidises the use of vilisto thermostats with up to 60%.

Measuring method: Digital heat meters and weather-adjusted consumption

For the amortisation period and the cost savings, the current market price for natural gas of 12 cents / kWh was assumed.

The amortisation period was calculated taking into account the subsidy.
