DB InfraGO—formerly known as DB Netz AG—is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s largest mobility and transportation group. As an infrastructure company, it lays the groundwork for rail transportation and the achievement of transportation policy goals. Aware of its significant responsibility regarding environmental and climate protection, the company aims to become climate-neutral by 2040. Part of DB InfraGO’s wide-ranging sustainability efforts is vilisto’s digital heat management system, designed to increase energy efficiency.
In 2021, DB InfraGO therefore equipped one of its office buildings in Hamburg with 91 smart vilisto thermostats. According to its own calculations, based on data from its sister company DB Energie, DB InfraGO saves an average of 18.4 percent in energy annually thanks to the AI-powered system, which heats only according to actual demand. This corresponds to approximately 42,000 kilowatt-hours less energy required, which is sourced in the form of district heating. The reduction in energy consumption translates to 5.5 metric tons fewer CO2 emissions, thereby improving the company’s environmental footprint.
