Project

Due to the grilles above the underfloor convectors, the radiators in the university building are difficult to regulate manually. The solution: self-learning thermostats from vilisto! These heat up in good time in the morning and switch off automatically as soon as heat is no longer needed. Previously, the thermostats were set to level 5 all the time – now they only heat as needed.

In combination with efficient concrete core activation, the energy consumption of the convectors in the equipped heating system (1st floor/1,623 m²) was reduced by 41.3% – despite the existing night-time temperature reduction.

Based on this excellent result and the highly professional cooperation with vilisto, Goethe University will take the next step and fully equip the building. In the long term, the entire campus is to be heated intelligently with self-learning thermostats.

The vilisto presence detection system works perfectly despite the special installation situation of our radiators. The underfloor convectors are recessed into the floor and partially covered—but thanks to vilisto's 3-sensor technology, this is no problem. Together with concrete core activation, we save over 40% energy.
