Municipality of Schwaikheim

Project
The municipality of Schwaikheim is located in Baden-Wuerttemberg and is home to around 10,000 residents. Mayor Dr. Astrid Loff is constantly working on sustainability in her municipality north of Stuttgart. Not only have various support programs been launched for citizens, but environmental protection and sustainability projects have also been undertaken in the municipality itself. One of these is the digitalization of heat management in the town hall with the help of vilisto. The town hall consists of two buildings – one from 1956, the other from 2000. Both have been heated intelligently since 2022 in order to increase energy efficiency.
Thanks to the self-learning radiator thermostats from vilisto, the municipality of Schwaikheim saves 28.8 percent heating energy every year, resulting in around 6,000 euros less heating costs and ten tons less CO2 emissions. The municipality has received the federal funding for efficient buildings (official name: BEG) for its energy-saving project with vilisto. Thanks to the savings generated, the digital heat management system pays for itself within less than three years. The municipality is planning further climate protection measures for the coming years.
