Project
The town of Schwaikheim is located in Baden-Württemberg and has a population of about 10,000. Mayor Dr. Astrid Loff and her municipality, located north of Stuttgart, are constantly working to improve sustainability. To this end, not only have various
funding programs been launched for residents, but environmental protection and sustainability projects have also been undertaken within the municipality itself. One such project is the digitization of heating management in City Hall with the help of vilisto. City Hall consists of two buildings—one dating from 1956 and the other from 2000. Both have been heated intelligently since 2022 to increase energy efficiency.
Thanks to vilisto’s self-learning radiator thermostats, the municipality of Schwaikheim saves 28.8 percent in heating energy annually, resulting in over 6,000 euros in reduced heating costs and ten metric tons fewer CO2 emissions. For its energy-saving project with vilisto, the municipality received federal funding under the Federal Program for Efficient Buildings (BEG). Thanks to the savings generated, the digital heating management system will also pay for itself in less than three years. The municipality is planning further climate protection measures for the coming years.
